“Every piece on our stage is an adaptation of a story you may have seen before,” said Emily N. Wells, Human Race Artistic Director. “Stories are always evolving. Stories that may have been done a certain way before no longer work for the audience of today. How does a new take or a new lens on a certain story open up a new aspect to expand the possibilities of creativity? We’re also asking the audience to bring their own imagination with them.”

This 38th season is the first entirely devised by Wells in her new role as artistic director. In particular she felt the need to ensure the organization remained an entertaining destination for escapism.
“We’re definitely seeing a need for our audiences to enjoy and be entertained by theater again,” she said. “Audiences seem to be responding to shows that enlighten them but also give them relief from the pressure cooker of life.”

‘Angry, Raucous, and Shamelessly Gorgeous’

‘Reindeer Sessions’

‘The Kite Runner’
